Jacquisha ‘Chef Que’ Blackwell is the founder of Kandies. Her journey began in 2019, selling weekend dinners from her kitchen to help pay for culinary school. After graduating, she earned her first corporate catering account and grew Kandies through relationships, good food, and dependable service. Kandies was officially established in 2022. That same care still guides every meal and every customer she serves.
Built in Detroit
Today, Chef Que leads Kandies Sandwich Shop & Mini Market inside Durfee Innovation Society in Detroit. What began with weekend dinners has grown into a place for breakfast, lunch, groceries, and everyday essentials. Her catering brings that same care to meetings, school programs, family celebrations, and community events. Good food and good people remain at the heart of Kandies.

Chef Que believes good food can bring people together. Through catering, cookie fundraisers, and partnerships with schools and nonprofits, Kandies supports the people and organizations that help Detroit thrive.
